Chemical Properties: Quartz glass is an acidic material. Except for hydrofluoric acid and hot phosphoric acid, it is inert to any other acid, making it an outstanding acid-resistant material.
Thermal Properties: The thermal expansion coefficient of quartz glass is extremely low—only 1/12th to 1/20th that of ordinary glass. Standard specifications require that a specimen heated to 1200°C and then quenched in cold water must withstand more than three cycles without bursting.
